The Disruption of Consulting

In our inaugural Cygnus Sprints event, we invite four company founders in the on-demand professionals services space to share their motivations, rationale and realities for disrupting the disruptors. Despite years of asking their clients to disrupt themselves, the traditional professional services world continues to work very similarly to historical operations e.g. partnered models, billable hour-based, globally-scaled, junior consultants handle most of the strategy and execution of engagement, employees fully owned and controlled by the consultancy.

The global professional services industry sits at about $6.4 trillion and within that consulting expected to rise to over $500 billion consulting services market by 2025 (according to Research and Markets. The top 10 firms hold more than 55% share of that market space. In a world that loves the freedom of choice and bespoke solutions, very few industries generate this level of global concentration.
